Kotoke (Darkmares): Datoken (DayMares):
Darkmares are fierce opponents and highly intelligent beings with their own political agendas and hierarchy. The Kotoke are divided into 2 clans (The Kadatori and the Hota) that occasionally war on each other, and at other times work as close allies. Fully sentient, the Kotoke are able to understand dreamer speak but can speak it only with extreme difficulty and pain themselves due to a quirk of their "Physical" make up. They usually speak in a unique language that can spoken and understood by dreamers with appropriate study, though some lore cautions about the corrupting influence of learning it. Please see the lore section for a dictionary of the maren language.
Datoken, or Daymares are a lesser form of Mare. Though more mobile and intelligent than Lesser mares, they lack some of the raw power of their Night and Darkmaren brethren (Shielding, and inherent ability arts most notably). They make up for this with the ability to spontaniously evolve as they gain power (Float dreamers or other mares). They naturally seem to appear as one of the following forms: Bogrom, Agoknight, or Shamblix. Most prefer the form of a shamblix, and maintain it as often as possible. They also have a limited selection of true arts, such as Shatter and Drain Essence (Works on dreamer essences). They maintain the base auras and projectile effects of their base form.

Foulmoth is an old and extremely powerful darkmare, roughly on par age wise with Sharque. He is also known to be hostile to dreamers in general, though has occasionally allied with them over short terms to achieve mutually shared goals. One of the most combat capable mares, his skill at aiming the bounce from his natural projectiles is substantial. Though he often prefers direct combat, he is accomplished at art use and routinely uses high plateau mass arts in battle.

Maxtra Ztatha (Powerful Destroyer is the translation of his name) is a powerful Darkmare who has been hinted at trying to claim the leadership throne of the Kadatorii faction. A powerful combatant, he is a frequent and effective user of high plateau arts in battle, particularly against larger groups of dreamers.

A relatively well disposed towards dreamers mare, known to have a dreamer form and can speak dreamer (Though suffers debilitating pain from doing so). Often found at the Keepers of the Eternal Shadow house proper, and known to be its caretaker. She is also the main ranking mare of the Underlight Darkmares, though seldom exercises her command privileges. She is known to prefer peace, but is a capable if unexceptional combatant.
